MyDanceScene ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains
how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile applications
on iOS and Android (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register an account
- Profile Information: Leaderboard display name, dance style preferences, default location/city preference
- Event Submissions: Event details you submit (title, date, time, location, description, dance styles), flyer images uploaded from your photo library or camera
- Notification Preferences: Your push notification opt-in/opt-out settings
1.2 Information Collected Automatically:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
- Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens for delivering push notifications via Expo Push Notifications
- Authentication Tokens: JWT (JSON Web Token) session tokens stored securely on your device
- Cached Data: Event, studio, and band data cached locally on your device for offline access
- Usage Data: App interactions, pages viewed, and feature usage
1.3 Information from Third-Party Services:
- Subscription Data: Purchase and subscription status from RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) and Apple App Store / Google Play Store
- Analytics and Crash Reports: Aggregated usage and performance data
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process and manage your premium subscription
- Display events filtered by your selected city or location preference
- Send push notifications about events, reminders, and updates (with your consent)
- Review and publish user-submitted events
- Display your leaderboard name in community features
- Display advertisements to non-premium users
- Display partner discounts, deals, and affiliate content
- Track ad interactions for analytics purposes
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support
- Ensure safety, security, and prevent abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Premium Subscription and Payment Data
- Premium subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store as in-app purchases
- We do not directly collect or store your payment card information
- Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat, which receives purchase confirmation from the app stores
- We store your subscription status (active/inactive) to provide premium features such as an ad-free experience
- Auto-renewal and cancellation are managed entirely through the respective app stores
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
- Service Providers: Microsoft Azure (cloud hosting and API services), RevenueCat (subscription management), Expo (push notification delivery), Apple and Google (app distribution and in-app purchases)
- Other Users: Your leaderboard display name is visible to other users in community features. Events you submit, once approved, are publicly visible.
- Partner Organizations: We display partner deals and discount codes within the app; clicking affiliate links may direct you to external partner websites
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public
- Business Transfers: In connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales
5. Advertising
- Non-premium (free) users will see in-app advertisements
- Sponsored content is clearly marked with badges or labels
- We may track ad impressions and clicks for analytics purposes
- Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience
- Partner deals and affiliate links may be displayed to all users
6. Mobile App Permissions
Our mobile app may request the following permissions:
- Camera: To take photos for event flyer submissions (optional, requested only when you choose to take a photo)
- Photo Library: To select existing photos for event flyer submissions (optional, requested only when you choose to upload a photo)
- Push Notifications: To send event reminders, new event alerts, and updates (optional, you can opt in or out at any time)
- Internet Access: To load event data and communicate with our servers (required)
Location Services: Our app uses city-based event filtering based on your selected location preference. We do not use GPS tracking or collect precise geolocation data.
Your selected default city is stored in your profile on our servers.
You can manage all permissions at any time through your device settings.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure password hashing (passwords are never stored in plain text)
- JWT-based authentication with secure token storage on your device
- Role-based access controls for administrative functions
- Hosted on Microsoft Azure with enterprise-grade security
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies, Caching, and Local Storage
- Web: We use cookies for session management, authentication, and preferences
- Mobile App: We cache event, studio, and band data locally on your device to enable offline access and improve performance
- You can clear cached data at any time through the app's Settings
9. Push Notifications
We may send push notifications for:
- Event reminders and new event alerts in your area
- Service announcements and app updates
Managing Notifications:
- In-App: Settings > Notifications
- iOS: Settings > Notifications > MyDanceScene
- Android: Settings > Apps > MyDanceScene > Notifications
We store your device push notification token on our servers to deliver notifications. This token is deleted when you log out or delete your account.
10. Data Retention
We retain your information as follows:
- Account Data: While your account is active; deleted within 30 days after account deletion
- Event Data: Approved event listings are retained indefinitely as public content
- Subscription Data: Subscription status retained while your account is active
- Push Notification Tokens: Deleted upon logout or account deletion
- Cached Data: Stored locally on your device; cleared when you clear the cache or uninstall the app
- Backups: Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days
- Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer to comply with legal obligations
11. Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal information
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings
- Deletion: Delete your account through app Settings or by contacting us
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-Out: Disable push notifications, manage notification preferences
- Withdraw Consent: Revoke app permissions through your device settings at any time

12. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us

promptly delete such information.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Legal Basis: We process your data based on consent (notifications, optional features), contract performance (providing the Service), and legitimate interests (security, analytics)
